Born and raised in Washington State, Nadine believes in the value of hard work and giving back to the community. As the Mayor of Spokane, she worked with citizens and community leaders to move Spokane forward with positive and impactful solutions to today’s most pressing issues. Nadine worked with City Council members to outlaw drug use in public spaces and change zoning ordinances to create more affordable housing. Working with the Spokane Police Department, she also helped create the Violent Crime Task Force and a hire-ahead program to minimize understaffing. She was supported by Spokane Police, the Association of Realtors and business community.
Before pursuing office, Nadine was a trusted Spokane news anchor for 28 years, passionately reporting on Spokane issues – from the revitalization of downtown to the challenges of growth and development in our neighborhoods. During her television career, she made the Spokane community the focus of her work and was awarded the prestigious Silver Circle Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, one of the highest honors television professionals can achieve. This allowed her to hone her skills of communication, quick thinking, and decision-making skills with professionalism under pressure.
Community service has always been an important part of Nadine’s life. She’s currently a board member for the Spokane Police Foundation and has served on boards for the Downtown Spokane Partnership, Visit Spokane, Greater Spokane Incorporated, WSU Advisory Board, WorkSource Spokane and University District PDA. Nadine has also served as honorary chair for Spokane County Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, Go Red for Women/American Heart Association, Anna Ogden Hall, Adult and Teen Challenge and has been involved with Women Helping Women, March of Dimes, Red Cross Heroes, Children’s Miracle Network, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, and Coats 4 Kids.
Nadine has been married to Bruce for 35 years, has two grown children, and is crazy about her Wolfadoodle rescue, Otis!
